Stem Borer (Batocera rufomaculata) is emerging serious pest in mango. The extent of damage ranges from 5-20 per cent. Arka Borer Control (ABC) is an organic formulation in form of paste developed by ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru to manage tree Borers especially mango stem borer.
Method of Application:
ABC mixed with water (1 kg ABC in 500 to 750 ml water) to bring it to a slurry form. This slurry has to be swabbed on tree trunk using a 2 or 3 inches brush up to an height of about 2-3 feet from the ground. One kg of ABC can be applied to 3-5 mango trees depending on the age and size of the trunk. This has to be applied ideally during may-June which coincided with egg laying period of beetle. In endemic areas a second application during October-November is also recommended.
